I was reminded twice yesterday that I've not made an LJ entry for over a week. Well, I could make excuses - I'm saving myself for Blogathon at the weekend and Spike and his tuggy have done for one of my wrists - both of those would be true, but they're not the real reason. The real reason is that I'm caught in the grip of an obsession that isn't leaving much time, mental energy or typing strength over for anything else.
I'm sorry. I still love everyone. But it's so damn good.
Besides, you'll have more than your fill of me over the weekend. I'm slightly dreading the Blogathon, but I'm certainly not ducking out. And I take this opportunity to beg you, prettily and impassionedly (is that a word?) to sponsor me. Pleeeeeease!
Oh, and there was the new Harry Potter. I'm saving my typing strength, so if you want to know what I thought of it, go read
toft_froggy's review here. Spoiler-heavy, obviously.
Other things that I am infatuated with right now: 1. Captain Tractor. (official band website with sound.) Particularly this track, which is this entry's soundtrack. I urge everyone to listen to them and buy their stuff. Also, if I get at least three more sponsors for Blogathon, I will make a voicepost of myself singing their best-known song, "The Last Saskatchewan Pirate". (Or, if you'd rather, you can bribe me not to. I win either way.)
2. Russell Crowe. Not only for the obvious reasons (sex on legs, snarky bastard, did not make a pig's ear of playing one of my favourite fictional characters ever) but for random acts of kindness and for ...reasons both too convoluted and too nerdy to explain in a public entry. Anyway, I luff him.

...I've loved Dire Straits since Makin' Movies was released, in 1980. John loved them too, and one of their songs is one of my theme songs. They're heavy, for me, with decades of meaning and resonance. I love it when people randomly remind me of things I turn out not to have forgotten.
( Share and enjoy )
...thank you. So much.
(Breaking me out of the brainbleeding obsession with that Scissor Sisters song was just a bonus.)

What with one thing and another, I am getting either no sleep, or sleeping like a zombie at the stupidest times, so that this afternoon's pet food delivery woke me, and I had to scurry to put my teeth in while the nice blonde who brings me dead mice and green tripe languished on the doorstep. Then after she left, I put my hand to my neck and felt... something. I looked in the mirror and found myself covered with dried melted chocolate from chin to clavicle. It was only one small piece that had escaped from my bedtime nibble stash, but oh, how it had spread. I looked like I'd been mud wrestling. That would be an immensely fun thing to do with... never mind.
I'm getting past my slump. You can tell because I am posting, I am no longer invisible on AIM, I hoovered last night (actually, at 10am this morning, but I hadn't gone to bed yet) and I am horny almost past the point of endurance. Unfortunately, ( Cut for girl part TMI )
This, too, shall pass. Soon. Please.

From a recent chatlog: "*groan* Remind me to go back to being lackluster. It gets you included in more things and makes you easier to talk to.
This is a music dump specifically to celebrate the not-lacklustre. There might be one or two I have uploaded before. But what the hey.
Dory Previn - (Going Home)Mythical Kings And Iguanas
Lightning Seeds - Pure
Lightning Seeds - You Showed Me (I can't play this one, it sets the dogs off something rotten)
Deacon Blue - Queen Of The New Year
Deacon Blue - Your Swaying Arms
The Men They Couldn't Hang - Silver Gun
Peter Blegvad - How Beautiful You Are
Leonard Cohen - Dance Me To The End Of Love

...also, there's someone I need a mailing address for. Because I mean it about needing to show you Doctor Who. There's a particular storyline I'm thinking of, where the character with the highly varied past falls in love with the golden-haired girl who brings things to life and the man who's worth the monsters; but I am absolutely certain you would love all of it.
